             Sromowce Niżne is a village in Poland, in Małopolska voivodeship, Nowy Targ county, in Pieniny, in the Dunajec gorge. Sromowce with its about 1000 citizens is a touristic village with good accommodation base. The village is best known from the raft on the Dunajec river that is one of the main attractions of this region. In Sromowce there is a tourist boarder crossing with Slovakia. From 2006 you can also cross the boarder on the pedestrian – cycling bridge cutting Dunajec from Sromowce to Red Monastery – a village in Slovakia with an old monastery as the main attraction. The bridge allows tourist trips from Szczawnica through the Pieniny Route along the Dunajec river to the Red Monastery  to Sromowce and then through the Pieniny to Szczawnica.The village used to be an administrative unit of Nowy Sącz voivodeship in the years 1975 – 1998. Since 1999 the village belongs to małopolskie voivodeship. Monuments            The church of St. Katarzyna was probably build in 1513. The church has got one nave with a prolonged three sides closed prezbiterium. The building has got framework construction and is boarded with planks. The tower is of the pole construction with sloping walls, ended with a pointed dome. The church has one ridged, shingled roof. Valuable possessions from the church - Gothic triptych from the end of the 14th century with the copy of the sculpture of the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus, two wings of the triptych from the 15th century and wooden Gothic baptismal font  - are currently placed in the new church. The old church is not used from the 80s of the 20th century. The last mess was celebrated on 24th December 1986. The church is on the Route of the wooden architecture of the Pieniny and Podhale.             Sromowce Wyżne is a village in Poland, in Małopolska voivodeship, Nowy Targ county, in the Pieniny, in Czorsztyn Commune, on the Dunajec river.In the years 1975-1998 the village was an administrative unit of Nowosądeckie voivodeship. The main source of income for the local people was mainly farming and rafting. Since the Czorsztyn Dam and the lift on Polana Sosny (The Pine Clearing) were built the place has become a popular place for tourists who can spend their time here in many farm tourism houses. In the neighbourhood of Sromowce Wyżne – Kąty the raft on Dunajec begins. Sromowce Wyżne are currently considered one of the best tourist destinations in the Pieniny Mountains. Tourists Attractions              No doubts one of the main attractions of Sromowce Wyżne is the raft trip on the Dunajec river. Another thing worth seeing is the Regional Chamber organized by the local housewives association. An interesting place to see is also historic church of St. Stanisław. Near the church there are monuments of the Drohojowski family – the owners of the land and sponsors of the church. In the village there is a museum showing the highlanders traditions. In summer regional festivals with local music bands take place in Sromowce Wyżne and nearby villages.            Near Sromowce there is also a ski lift Polana Sosny (The Pine Clearing) and the power station Niedzica where you can see films about the dam on Dunajec and see some interiors of the dam.
